I was given an ftp account. How do I upload/download files?
To login use the ftp address, username and password as provided in the confidential email from Crocker
The most common methods of accessing your account are from a web browser (eg Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox) or through an ftp client program (there are several different types available for purchase or freely downloadable from the Internet).
For reliability it is recommend to use an ftp client program. The setup of the ftp client program differs slightly for each program. In most cases you just need to create a new profile and input your username, password and host address
Your ftp account can also be accessed through a web browser. To access your account through a web browser simply type the following into your address bar.
ftp://[username provided]@[ftp address provided]
Example:
ftp://mysecretusername@crockerftp.petrolog.net
You will then be prompted to enter your password.
Note: Some browsers do not let you upload your files and only allow downloading of your files.
If you are still having problems connecting to your ftp account it may be due to security settings on your computer/network. These include situations when you are behind a firewall or proxy. Please consult your system administrator or IT staff for assistance.
