    1) Basic Training Course (2 ˝ days)

     

    Who should attend?

    Technical Assistants, Geologists, Geophysicists, Petrophysicists and anyone involved in the acquisition, loading, editing and graphical display of well log data.

     

    Course Prequisites?

    This course is  designed both for new users of Petrolog or attendee’s familiar with the previous generation Petrolog V9. Attendees with limited prior knowledge of well log data management and edting are encouraged to undertake the extended 5 day course.

    Course Contents

    This 2 ˝ day course covers the Petrolog Basic module functionality with real well tutorial examples. The topics covered include:

    1.        Open Hole Logging Tools review (optional depending on attendee experience)

    2.        Installation and configuration of Petrolog

    3.        Data Loading of Continuous and Discrete Well Data

    4.        Data Editing including merging, depth matching, SP drifting, etc

    5.        Graphical Presentation including plots, histograms, cross-plots, montage and cross-sections

    6.        Functions and User Algorithms

     

    Extended (5 day) option

    This 2 ˝ day course assumes that the attendee’s have some experience with Open Hole Logging Tools and editing of well log data. CPD also offers an extended 5 day version of this Basic Training Course with an in-depth review of logging tools and additional practical examples.

     

     

    • The latest commercial version of Petrolog will be utilised during this training course. Working examples and tutorials for all topics  will also be provided.
    • One PC will be provided for every 2-3 participants. However, attendees are encouraged to bring their own notebooks which will allow installation and configuration of the latest version of Petrolog during the school.
    • Attendees are encouraged to bring their own work examples for processing and review if desired.
    • The Basic Training Course can be shortened further to 2 days for experienced attendees in small groups with a strong previous knowledge of logging tools and log data management if required.

    Petrophysicists and anyone involved in the processing and interpretation of well log data.

     

    Course Prequisites?

    The attendee should have completed the Basic Training Course or has hands on experience using the Petrolog Basic module.

    Course Contents

    This 2 ˝ day course covers the Petrolog Petrophysics module functionality with real tutorial examples. The topics covered include:

    1.        Quicklook Analysis using User Algorithms

    2.        Overview of CPX petrophysics

    3.        Environmental Corrections

    4.        CPX Analysis utilising interactive cross-plots

    5.        CPX Options including SSS, TWA models, dual clay, uncertainty analysis, rock mechanics, recomputed logs and NMR, CBM analysis modules.

    6.        Hydrocarbon Volume Reporting and Multiwell processing

    7.        Neural Network Analysis

    8.        Additional Processing: Cased Hole (TDT), Synthetics, Multi-mineral analysis and Introduction to Imagelog Petrophysics (as requested by attendee’s)

     

    Extended (5 day) option

    This 2 ˝ day course assumes that the attendee’s have experience with Petrophysics Theory and Basic Log Analysis. CPD also offers an extended 5 day version of the Petrophysics Training Course with an in-depth introduction to Petrophysics and additional practical examples on all topics presented.

     

     

    • The latest commercial version of Petrolog will be utilised during this training course. Working examples for all topics covered will also be provided.

    3) Imagelog Training Course (5 days)

    Who should attend?

    Petrophysicists, Sedimentologists, Geologists and formation image interpreters. This course is also valuable for technical staff involved in image data loading and editing.

    Course Prequisites

    It is recommended that attendees have either previously attended the Basic Training Course or have hands on experience using Petrolog. However, new users to Petrolog will be able to acquire the basics during this course

    Course Contents?

    This 5 day course covers the Petrolog Imagelog module functionality with real well tutorial examples. The topics covered include:

    1.        Introduction to the principles of Borehole Image interpretation.

    2.        Review of Imagelog tools including theory, application and pros/cons of each

    3.        Data loading and quality control

    4.        Graphical Presentations

    5.        Imagelog Corrections

    6.        Interactive Dip Editing and Autodip processing

    7.        Advanced Imagelog Processing and Image Petrophysics

    8.        Image Interpretation

    Shortened (4 day) option

    The final day (Image Interpretation) is optional for attendees with prior experience in Imagelog analysis and interpretation.
